So, the Nobel committee awarded the peace prize, out of a large field of worthy contenders, to someone other than Trump. Predictably enough, the White House and associated sycophants erupt in condemnation.
Trump’s whining shows exactly where his motivation lies.
Someone who truly deserves the Nobel will have worked tirelessly towards peace in some way, for many years. For them, achieving steps towards peace is the goal in itself. If they happen to be recognized for it, that’s just an incidental benefit, not the main prize.
Trump’s behaviour throughout, incessant campaigning for a prize (“Gimme, gimme, gimme ...”) turns that equation on its head. It shows his only motivation for any actions towards peace is adulation, not peace itself.
But then, that is totally in character for his transactional, win-at-all-costs mindset.
